Flavors of Home
Milca Roja Featured in Edible South Florida’s Spring 2026 Issue.
Milca Roja is proud to be featured in the Spring 2026 issue of Edible South Florida, in a piece exploring the deep roots of Latin soda culture in our region.
The article, Flavors of Home: The History of Soda Pop in South Florida by Sef Gonzalez, traces how immigrant communities shaped the beverage aisle we know today — from Cuban exiles rebuilding beloved island brands in Miami, to Nicaraguan drinks like Milca finding a home on South Florida shelves and beyond.
What makes South Florida different isn't just the diversity of products available — it's that those products carry real meaning. As we told the magazine, Miami is one of those cities where your culture isn't a niche, it's mainstream. People aren't buying Milca because it's exotic. They're buying it because it's part of them.
Milca Roja has been part of that story since 1959. A recipe born in Nicaragua, carried here by community, and now found at retailers across the country including Publix, Walmart, Sedano's, and more.
